This project is aimed at using the modern mathematical methods for the actual tasks of data processing: analysis of the fussy images and analysis of low statistics data obtained as results of nuclear physics experiments. In the project based on the results of RFBR project No. 14-02-93960 (contest of research projects conducted jointly by the RFBR and the National Research Foundation of South Africa) we’ll continue to study a previously unknown type of nuclear transformations found by project authors - collinear cluster tri-partition (CCT). In the experiments at the FOBOS spectrometer [H-G.Ortlepp, et al., NIM A 403 (1998) 65] dedicated to study of the spontaneous fission of the 248Cm and 252Cf nuclei in the mass correlation distribution of fission fragments new unusual structures bounded by magic clusters were observed for the first time. The structures were interpreted as a manifestation of a new exotic decay called collinear cluster tri-partition (CCT). These pioneer results were confirmed and detailed later in the series of experiments at different time-of-flight spectrometers [D.V. Kamanin, Yu. V. Pyatkov, "Clusters in Nuclei - Vol.3" ed. by C. Beck, Lecture Notes in Physics 875, pp. 183-246 (2013)]. At the stage of interpreting the data an estimation of statistical reliability of linear structures in the mass correlation distribution of fission fragments is needed. Previously we have developed approaches [Yu. V. Pyatkov et al., Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis, 21 (2011) 82] based on morphological image analysis which will be further developed within the project. To improve the quality of estimation of linear structures statistical reliability in the mass correlation distribution of fission fragments mathematical formalism of oblique projecting will be used [Yu.P. Pytyev. Oblique Projectors and Relative Forms in Image Morphology //Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, 2013, V. 53, No. 12, pp. 1916-1937].
Planned to be achieved in 2016: 1. Development and application of the mathematical formalism of oblique projection in order to improve the quality of estimation of statistical reliability of linear structures in the mass correlation distribution of fission fragments. Comparing of the results with those obtained on the basis of morphological image analysis without the use of oblique projection techniques. 2. Preparing of the paper(s) and/or thesis to be published.
