Primary objectives and scope of the project. In the second stage of project performance we planned to study the reactivity of cyclopalladated complexes and to develope the effective method of monodentate P*-chiral phosphine resolution based on the use of the best of cyclopalladated matrix found before.
We have conducted systematic mass-spectral investigations of a wide series acetylacetonato derivatives of ortho-palladated alpha-arylalkylamines. An unusual process of cross-coupling of two organic ligands in the gas phase including palladium hydride elimination was disclosed; this transformation is occured via the rearrangement of O,O’-bonded beta-diketonate ligand into the sigma-C-bonded intermediate. Mass-spectral criterion for the confirmation of the Pd-C sigma-bond occurence in ortho-palladated compounds was found, namely, the presence of corresponding ArPd fragment. On the base of the best of stereoselectors obtained the new scheme of optical resolution of monodentate P*-chiral phosphines was worked up including the recovering of resolving agent and direct trapping of homochiral phosphine displaced from the diastereomerically pure cyclopalladated adduct in the form of potential precatalyst. To note, the enantiopure monodentate phosphines can be used as a starting compound in the synthesis of bi- and tridentate phosphine and aminophosphine ligands.
