A problem of simulating an incidence of a plane wave on a layer is considered. It was written a C++ computer program, that used the method of projections to solve the scattering problem. The adjusted layer width was used to calculate a layer irradiation defect. The method was tested in the cases of normal and skew incidence on a homogeneous layer, which can be solved analytically. An example of application to the field of sea surface radiometry was shown.
