Development of time-domain THz spectroscopy opens new perspectives for medical and biological research. Simultaneous (in one shot) information about reflection and absorption of the media under study fully characterizes the material. On the contrary to near IR, where oscillation frequencies of separate chemical bonds are localized, the spectral response in THz range shows the information about molecular movements: the rotation and phonon oscillations of molecular crystal lattices. THz range is specific for either molecular vibrational-rotational transition of water and other important biological molecules, (nucleic acids and proteins), or intermolecular interactions. The goal of this study is to provide informative technology for THz spectroscopy and imaging of biological objects and tissues.
