In this work we examine the 14 years archive of ACE SWEPAM and MAG instrument data in order to statistically determine the general rules governing short-term solar wind parameter variations. These possible dependencies may reflect physical processes determining relations between solar wind parameters at 1AU. We also develop methods for automatic search and identification of candidates for various types of solar wind extreme events and discontinuities. We further explore connections and interdependences between short-term variations of solar wind parameters. This allows us to construct a probabilistic model of short-term variation limits in solar wind.
