Only two complete plastid genomesof a large Apiaceae family are available from the GeneBank currently. It has been shown previously by restriction endonuclease analysis, that some Apioideae cpDNAs have large LSC-IR junction shifts [1]. The goal of our researchwas to study general and specific patterns of plastome structure and expansions and contractions of the IR in Apioideae. We have determined sequences of Seseli montanum L. (tribe Selineae) and Pastinaca pimpinellifolia M. Bieb. (tribe Tordylieae) plastomes using a combination of Illumina MiSeq and HiSeq paired-end sequencing. Contigs were derived from genome-survey sequences and the circular plastid genomes were closed using PCR and Sanger sequencing. Although the basic quadripartite structure and gene content are preserved in these plastomes, we observed some rearrangements, including contraction and xpansion of the IR regions.Analysis of synteny showed that the genome of S. montanum is similar to typical genomes of eudicots, while the P. pimpinellifolia genome differs by presence of a psbA-pseudogene and a duplication of the trnH-GUG. PCR-based analysis of Pastinaca relatives also revealsoccurence of the psb A-pseudogene, so probably the rearrangement may serve as a synapomorphy for a particular clade of the Apioideae tree.
