This report examines the concept of soft skills in nonverbal communication and the problem of lack of attention to this aspect in the context of teaching English as a foreign language, despite the undeniable importance of this phenomenon in public, professional, private, and educational spheres for both interacting parties - the student and the teacher. The report includes a review of aspects of nonverbal communication presented in the literature in the context of teaching English as a foreign language based on research conducted in various countries around the world. The practical part of the report analyzes the issues of teaching nonverbal communication in English language classes for students of MIPT and MISIS, at the bachelor's and master's levels using examples of defending presentations of team projects. The results obtained during the practical part allow us to conclude that there is insufficient understanding of the importance of nonverbal communication on the part of students and teachers due to lack of time and focus on teaching language skills as a priority. Moreover, the research results suggest the relevance of nonverbal skills in public speaking and the necessity of providing pedagogical assistance to students in their development.
