For EG And, we analysed flux and radial velocity variability of individual components of the Hα and [OIII] λ5007 spectral lines. Our results showed the asymmetric wind distribution in the orbital area and suggests the Raman scattering as the mecha nism producing the broad wing emission component of the Hα line profile. Moreover, a low-density environment around the red giant poles was indicated, with corresponding spherical equivalent of the mass-loss rate of up to two orders of magnitude lower than that determined from the H0 densities in the orbital-plane area. This is an independent confirmation that the circumstellar matter in EG And is not distributed spherically symmetrically, but is focused towards the orbital plane.
