The design and synthesis of the fluorescent biocompatible ligands for detecting various metal ions in vivo is a challenging and actual problem. Quinoline derivatives are well known by their fluorescent properties and are promising compounds for such applications. In this work we report the synthesis of new fluorescent ligands for metal ions detection containing 6-aminoquioline moiety as a signaling group.The fluorescent derivatives of 6-aminoquinoline with different podands 2 were easily obtained in good yields (up to 75%) via Pd-catalyzed amination of 6-bromoquinoline (1) with polyamines taken in excess (Scheme 1).The alkyaltion of the quinolinyl-substituted polyamines resulting in 2-picolinyl and amidophosphonyl derivatives provided a series of new fluorescent water-soluble ligands 3-5 (Scheme 2). The coordination properties of the ligands and their abilities to detect metal cations in water were investigated by means of UV- and fluorescence spectrometry.
