When a single circular heat-insulated cylinder is placed in a transverse air flow, its surface temperature changes significantly: at the front stagnation point, the surface temperature is equal to the stagnation temperature of the oncoming flow and then decreases to minimum values at the rear (the Eckert-Weise effect or the effect of energy separation). The Eckert-Weise effect is commonly associated with a non-stationary vortex shedding process. Recently Aleksyuk (2021) by the numerical solution of the Navier–Stokes equations studied the Eckert–Weise effect and their sensitivity on the flow interference behind two side-by-side cylinders. The considered distances between the cylinders cover the key regimes of interference: single, bistable and coupled vortex streets. In this paper, we experimentally studied the influence of the above mentioned regimes on the distribution of temperature and static pressure over surface of side-by-side cylinders in a cross flow. The investigations were carried out at Mach numbers of the oncoming flow M=0.295 and 0.365 and Reynolds numbers 6.4∙104 and 7.9∙104 based on the diameter of a single cylinder, respectively. The distributions of pressure coefficient and temperature recovery factor were obtained. It is shown that, depending on the distance between the cylinders, the pressure coefficient and the Eckert–Weise effect (temperature recovery factor) can be both higher and lower than the values obtained on a single cylinder with identical parameters of the oncoming flow
