The effect of temperature on the processes of dissipative electron tunneling through individual Co nanoparticles (NPs) in a 10 nm thick HfO2 film on a conductive substrate with a Co sublayer has been studied experimentally by atomic force microscopy (AFM) with a conducting probe. The qualitative agreement between the experimental and theoretical temperature dependences obtained indicates the features of the I–V curves measured experimentally to be associated with the effect of macroscopic quantum tunneling with dissipation.
