The interaction of poly(acrylic acid) stars and poly(acrylic acid) brushes with the oppositely charged linear polyelectrolytes in aqueous media was demonstrated to result in the formation of water-soluble interpolyelectrolyte complexes in which the star-shaped or the brush-like polyelectrolyte plays a lyophilizing part, thus representing novel multicomponent polymeric assemblies. The basic properties of such complexes and their behavior in aqueous solutions were examined.
