We report a research concerned with stability of photoluminescent properties of silicon nanocrystals in different mediums. They were found more stable in acidic solutions. This could be explain by higher dissolution rate in alkaline mediums and stronger oxidation in acidic mediums. Typical decay times varied from 1 hour to 10 hours depending on pH level. Coating of nanoparticles by bioresorbable polymers, i.e. PLGA and PVA, leads to en-hancement of PL instead of stabilization.
