We conducted comprehensive studies of the state of the infrastructure of the Russian Arctic. The degree of deformation of objects and the impact of dangerous cryogenic and nival-glacial processes on the stability of buildings and structures requires an immediate attention. It has been established that numerous amount of cryogenic processes are developing in the urbanized areas of the permafrost zone. They are caused (or activated) by anthropogenic impacts or climate change. Such processes as thermokarst, thermal erosion, thermal abrasion of shores, icings are very active. The tangential forces of frost heaving increase due to an increase in the depth of the active layer. Almost all buildings and life support systems in the territories of the national settlements of the Arctic are in emergency or pre-emergency condition. Degree of deformation of engineering infrastructure ranges from 20% to 80% in industrial centers, which is often due to the development of dangerous cryogenic processes. We developed a methodology for the assessment of negative impacts of the most destructive processes on the infrastructure of settlements. We used such parameters as: the degree of damage to the territory, the duration and frequency of processes. The risk assessment is conducted for one and a half dozen settlements of the Russian Arctic, with special attention paid to the infrastructure of the north of Western Siberia.
