The two-dimensional problem of diffraction of a monopolar electromagnetic pulse on a slitis considered by the methods of a computational experiment. The structure of the diffraction field isanalyzed for various ratios of the slit width and the spatial pulse length. It is shown that if the slitwidth significantly exceeds the length of the incident monopolar pulse, then, regardless of itspolarization, the diffraction field is bipolar.
