The study is aimed at description of the changes taking place both in time and in space for the region of the Bolshezemelskaya tundra. Every year, at the research site Khanovei of theDepartment of Geocryology of Moscow State University, work is carried out on permafrost mapping, the study of the composition and properties of rocks on different relief elements,geophysical research and thermometry. Permafrost rocks have a thickness of about 80–90 m according to geophysical data, permafrost table lies at depths from 0.5 to 4–5 m. In reliefdepressions, non-through taliks are located, they can reach a depth of 20 m.
