Cellulose HogC was produced by an attractive method the dry stem of Sosnovsky hogweed employing successive grinding, acidizing (3% HNO3 , 24 h, 80-90 oC), alkaline treatment (2% KOH, 2 h, 60-70 oC), bleaching (3% H2O2 + 1% KOH, 20 min, 60-70 oC) and freeze drying. The composition, crystalline structure, vibrational response and thermal stability of the cellulose was studied using standard techniques of material characterization: elemental analysis, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffractometry, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). For HogC, the degree of crystallinity (approximately 70%) and the glass transition temperature (105 - 108 ° C) are determined. Further, films were made HogC, and the possibility of their hydrophobization by treatment with radiation-synthesized telomeres of tetrafluoroethylene was shown. It was found that the contact water angle of the telomere-treated cellulose film surface depends both on the chemical nature of the solvent and on the initial concentration of tetrafluoroethylene during telomere synthesis and can reach 140 degrees.
