We present a theoretical and experimental study of an equilibrium of a spherical magnetizable body floating in a drop of ferrofluid situated on a horizontal plane in a uniform horizontal magnetic field. In contrast to a vertical field, in which the body can float at a height of several millimeters in small volumes of ferrofluid and in weak fields, in a horizontal field, the body should float only at a height of several tenths of millimeter in relatively large volumes and in strong enough fields.
