Linguistic creativity is generally acclaimed to have complex nature demonstrating itself in various semiotic dimensions. For instance, there are language and discourse studies of linguistic creativity with the latter exhibiting its orientation, intentionality, and discourse variability. It also becomes a research area of cognitive and psychological studies. Here linguistic creativity is explored as a discourse construal phenomenon in terms of its reproducibility [Teliya 2004] in various discourse samples. The study seeks to reveal the reproducibility techniques of linguistic creativity in authentic (first in appearance) discourse samples and their secondary successful and less successful replicas. The work features two F. Baum’s novel sequels with the one acknowledged by the federation of Baum’s inheritance, and the other refused such honor. These samples serve to define the distribution of linguistic creativity parameter values and explore the variance in their characteristics. Parametrization method of linguistic creativity study [Zykova, Kiose 2020] followed by vector-space modelling method are applied in the research, featuring the language level parameters, their frequency and discourse distribution in R. Thompson’s and R. Evans’ sequels. The study discloses two common reproducibility techniques of discourse linguistic creativity, that is the technique of parameter activity enhancement / decline (with the variance displayed at the levels of phonology, morphology, word-formation, and orthography), and the technique of parameter activity redistribution within one level (with the key differences observed at the lexical and syntactic levels where the more successful sequel clearly demonstrates a wider parameter range). With these differences made explicit, we can apply the techniques detected and the parametric values and distribution scales to make prognostic assessment of the discourse type explored here. The method developed can also get recognition as complementing the expertise procedure of any literary discourse sample.
