The literature has discussed the relationship between motivation and the level of cognitive function in schizophrenia (Barch DM., 2008). Also, the violation of the motivational component was considered the main one in the violation of cognitive processes (Zeigarnik B., 1986). We studied the influence of the motivational factor on the success of cognitive tests in the first episode of schizophrenia. 28 patients aged 16 to 32 years (21, 1S D ± 4,1) with a clinical diagnosis of schizophrenia (according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision) undergoing. The results were compared with a group of normal subjects - 36 people, (22, 1S D ± 1.8). Cognitive function was assessed using Brief Assessment of Cognition in Schizophrenia and Similarities abstract thinking tests (WAIS, subtest 4), proverb interpretation, “exlusion of intem”. Motivation was assessed on 3 scales ("Effort", "Rapport", "Cooperation") from 1 to 4 points. The best motivation was 12 points. In the schizophrenia group, the motivation for performing the tests was significantly (p <0.01) lower (7.5, SD ± 2.9) than in the normal group (10.6, SD ± 2.0). The motivational factor influenced only the result of individual cognitive tests (Table 1) (verbal memory, processing, planning) but not the level of abstract thinking. The level of abstract thinking was partially dependent on age (proverb interpretation, R = -0.42; exlusion of intem, R = 0.32). Таблица 1.
