Resonant light scattering by nanoparticles provides the unique opportunity to concentrate a high-amplitude electromagnetic field in the subwavelength spatial area as well as to tailor and control the field pattern there. In addition to purely academic interest, this is extremely important for numerous applications ranging from medicine and biology to telecommunication and data processing. A comprehensive review of recent advances in this important field is presented.
