Nowadays, portable LIBS is in rapid growth. Often, quantitative analysis in sample quality checking is not necessary, and discriminating empty rock from ore is sufficient. For such tasks, mathematical methods of chemical data classification are used. They are called chemometrics. With the development of new algorithms and the growth of computing powers, routine tasks of an analyst can be translated into algorithms and run by a computer. The goal of this work is to classify clay rocks using PCA based upon the data obtained using a hand-held LIBS apparatus.
