We presented participants with several so called simple arguments and asked them to judge their validity. All stimuli were formulated in Russian and corresponded to Modus Ponens, Affirming the Consequent, Modus Tollens, Denying the Antecedent, and different types of Disjunction elimination schemes. Some of them, say, MP, were logically valid, and others, like Affirming the Consequent, were logically invalid. Our research supported the hypothesis and suggested at least two forms of inferences to be considered as embedded atomic building blocks for complex arguments
