Diamonds with color centers are object for intensive studying in many areas such as nanoengineering and quantum optics. Due to their unique properties they are widely used as precise sensors, biomarkers, single photon sources, and qubits. The size and shape of diamond particles can affect the light-matter interaction within particle volume, for example, the luminescence of color centers and Raman scattering. When the particle size is approaching the wavelength of light, the set of optical resonances can be excited. These resonances are referred as Mie resonances and reveal themselves in scattering spectra. The high refractive index of diamond makes these resonances well-pronounced so that they can be observed in luminescence and Raman scattering. Here we report on an experimental study of the luminescence from silicon-vacancy (SiV) color centers in submicron diamond particles, and the Raman scattering from these particles. First, we employ single-particle dark-field scattering spectroscopy to reveal the Mie resonances of diamond particles. Second, we measure the lifetime of the SiV-centers under pulsed excitation. Finally, we measure the Raman response from each particle.
