Recently we have proposed a novel, scalable and simple method to obtain highly stable continuous gold nanoparticle (AuNPs) films at various liquid|liquid interfaces (LLIs).[1] Only vigorous shaking of aqueous phase containing AuNPs with organic phase containing tetrathiafulvalene species is required. The method allows creating both sub- and multilayer self-healing films (Fig.1A). They may be applied for liquid optical filters and mirrors with tunable properties (Fig.1C), as well in biphasic SERS and microdroplets encapsulation to create containers. Also, gold nanoparticles at LLIs may be charged and discharged by redox couples in adjunct phases.[2] Thus, it open a new venue to facilitated electron transfer across LLIs and interfacial electrocatalysis (Fig.1B).
