Slavic predicatives with a dative subject valency i.e. predicatives licensing dative-predicative structures are a borderline field at the crossroads of grammatical and lexicographical description. Factors licensing the class of DPS predicatives and making it partly open pertain to grammar. Intralinguistic variation in the reproduction of the DPSnucleus and its extension is merely a task of computational lexicography. Estimates of the volume and structure of the DPS class must be based on an explicit procedure and quantitative methods. Russian has a large class of DPS predicatives, but the variation across speakers shows that only a part of DPS represents a shared lexicon.
