One of the challenges facing the students of international relations is that, apart from the purely linguistic skills, such as grammar or phraseology, they also have to be aware of the cross-cultural differences in the way ideas are formulated in Russian and in English. Most often than not, one tends to try and adapt the rules and pecularities of their native tongue to the foreign language they study, which might lead to ambiguity, confusion and misunderstandings. Therefore, when it comes to teaching Russian learners of English, a very different kind of linguistic personality should be created with respect for the typically English way of seeing things and expressing one's ideas.
