On the basis of A. A. Ilyushin’s theory of flow in a thin plastic layer the various generalizations of the classical L. Prandtl’s problem on plastic strip compression are studied and their solutions are obtained. The plane problem of compression of a plastic strip between two parallel rough planes, supplemented by the asymmetry of the conditions on the spreading ends, has been solved. The upper estimate of the total compression force of the face-end regions of the plastically stretched strip has been defined. While reaching this level of force at the time of the plastic stretching of the strip, the plastic sediment of its face-end parts occurs. It is clear that with further deformation the thinning and separation happens not in the middle of its stretched part, but rather near the inner boundary of the contact.
