Single Molecular Magnets (SMMs) are very promising compounds for application in molecular memory storage. These systems are continuously being improved in order to achieve higher energy barriers to magnetic relaxation, and higher magnetic blocking temperatures. Here we present new crown-substituted double-decker Tb(III) phthalo-oxanthrenocyaninate complexes, which provide the ability to form supramolecular ensembles in presence of potassium cations, moreover their properties can be triggered by protonation of meso-N-atoms in oxanthrenocyanine ligands1, which can affect their SMM properties.
