The synthetic approach toward heteronuclear trisphthalocyaninates, containing paramagnetic atoms, includes using of La(Pc)2 as an efficient and convenient source of Pc2- dianions. Indeed, the reaction between double-decker of one metal and La(Pc)2 in the presence of acetilacetonate of another metal under reflux in 1-chloronaphtalene, afforded the heteronuclear complexes. Remarkably, the reaction rate is exceptionally high; only 15 min are required for complete conversion of starting double-decker into the target heteronuclear compound.
