We report results on experimental study and modeling of generation development in longitudinally qcw-pumped picosecond lasers with electrooptical operation control (active mode-locking and negative feed-back) and passive mode-locking on the basis of semiconductor absorber mirror. In terms of laser operation modeling with taking into account inhomogeneous distribution of pump radiation inside active media, beam propagation through resonator, actions of intracavity elements, we propose criterion of optimal resonator and pump scheme configurations that guarantee good beam quality and high pulse energy in a wide range of pump repetition rates. Experimental results on formation of picosecond pulse and its precise synchronization with periodic driving signal are discussed.
