In this work, the influence of the structural and mechanical modification of PLA fibers via the crazing mechanism on the rate of their hydrolytic degradation in PBS (10 mM Na2HPO4 + 0.15 M NaCl; pH = 7.4, T = 37 °C) for 8 weeks was studied. Composite fibrous materials based on PLA with iodine nanoparticles were obtained using the orientation drawing of the starting amorphous fibers (diameter of 700 µm) in water-ethanol solution of iodine (9%) up to 300% at a drawing rate of 10%/min. The size of iodine particles, their phase state, as well as the features of distribution in the PLA matrix were studied using TEM technique. It was found that both crystalline and amorphous iodine particles in the range from 4 to 20 nm were occurred in the matrix. The iodine particles were distributed in the matrix in a regular manner, forming chain structures.
