The course of history of philosophy of science was introduced into the university curriculum in the early 2000s as substitute for obligatory courses of the Marxism in the Soviet times after the failure to replace it with the history of philosophy. Nevertheless, the reform was curried out too hastily and the destine of the new discipline at the Russian universities stays uncertain. The reasons of this uncertainty should be appreciated in the general context of all present transformations in the scientific and educational systems.
