Transformation of pine wood under ozone impact was studied by DRIFT and Raman spectroscopy Deconvolution of DRIFT spectra with Lorentzian components was performed. The DRIFT and Raman spectra allow conclusion that up to ozone consumption (Qr) ~1.5 mmol/go.d.w., a dominant process is the destruction of the aromatics. In the Qr range of 1.5-3.0 mmol/g, this process is accompanied with a formation of aromatic carbonyl and carboxyl compounds gradually oxidized into aliphatic ethers and acids.
