Since long time Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is an important tool in taxonomic study ofdifferent biological specimen including cladocerans. But there are almost no published studies thatpresent SEM pictures of subfossil Cladocera. We would like to present results of our first attemptsto create good images of the specimens retrieved from the lake sediment. We processed surfacesediments samples taken in littoral part of several lakes located in Central part of Mexico. The 30remains were picked out under the binocular and dried. Then they were coated with gold palladiumand examined using scanning microscope JSM-6610LV in high pressure at 20KV. The carapacesand head shields were deformed during the process, but this don't interfere with the study ofimportant morphological features, like sculpture of valves and head pores. In contrast, Cladoceraephippia were not affected by preparation and remain in perfect shape. This study is a contributionto the project founded by National Science Centre grant nr. NCN 2014/13/B/ST10/02534.
