Despite the numerous developments of new technologies in the field of photovoltaic energy, the share of silicon technology in the world market for many years is more than 90%. If you rely on existing forecasts, this situation will continue in the future. However there is a contradiction between the projections of energy development and the requirement to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The predicted value of the share of renewable energy in the world by 2050 is 50%, and to prevent the increase in temperature on Earth by 1.5 degrees required to bring carbon dioxide emissions to zero. Thus, a sharp increase in the production of silicon and solar modules based on it is necessary. The report examines the existing forgotten and undervalued technologies for the production of silicon-based solar modules, reducing the need for this material and increasing the efficiency of the modules.
