The presenting work is devoted to an impact assessment for the mercury and its compounds, which enter the air, water bodies and soil from anthropogenic sources. Modeling is used to predict the effects of chemicals at a global or regional scale. Several models have been developed that describe the fate of chemicals in the environment, which are used to assess the mercury footprint of a country or even entire regions. In this paper will be presented the approach to obtain estimates for the mercury load on a global scale will be presented. This is a very important result allows us to get adequate assessments of the success of any activities on implementation e.g. of Minamata convention. For estimation of mercury footprint an approach to allow for spatial differentiation was using. In frame of this approach we medicated of the USEtox model with the simultaneous used of the algorithm of calculation of mass transfer, coefficients of chemicals in the hydrosphere and atmosphere, GIS and software for the processing of large data bodies.
