A laboratory generator of 212Pb radionuclide for radioimmunotherapy has been developed. It allows to obtain 212Pb isotope in sufficient for researches quantities, namely, at units of MBq activity, every three days. The generator’s design provides phase separation during operation. From a volume with a solid-phase parent nuclide (228Th, T1/2 = 1.9 yr) its daughter isotope – gaseous 220Rn (T1/2 = 56 s) – is carried out with a stream of air into a separate storage volume. After its decay, formed 212Pb is washed out from the storage volume by liquid-phase eluant. Due to this phase separation, the possibility of long-lived parent isotopes entering the final preparation is eliminated. It provides high radiochemical purity, which plays a key role in nuclear medicine applications. The absence of radionuclide impurities was confirmed by the gamma-spectrometric method. At present, the total yield of 212Pb isotope is 27% with current facility design. It is planned to increase the total isotope yield. Besides, the generator was originally designed for therapeutic levels of preparation activity (units of GBq), and it is planned to follow such mode of facility operation.
