Results of a 3D kinetic-MHD numerical model of the solar wind (SW) interaction with the local interstellar medium (LISM), which has been recently advanced by taking into account non-equilibrium local behavior of the velocity distribution function of the charged particles as well as heliospheric and interstellar magnetic fields, wiil be presented and compared with different types of observational diagnostics of the SW/LISM interaction region that includes data from Voyager 1 and 2, SOHO, Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX), HST and other spacecrafts. Differences between model and observations will be underlined and discussed.
