Region branding programmes are currently increasing in popularity around the world. They are having strong impact on regional competitiveness. This report provides a review of region branding methods. The main aim is to conceptualise methods of region branding. Abilities of different regions to build a product-based region brand are considered. The important role of region branding in competitiveness is underlined. Special attention is paid to Russian regions' opportunities of developing strong brands.
