In this work we investigate a completely new copolymer of cyclododecene with norbornene, which was synthesized for the first time via the cross-metathesis reaction between semicrystalline polydodecenamer and amorphous polynorbornene. By adjusting the reaction time, catalyst amount and composition of the initial system we obtained a set of statistical multiblock copolymers that differ in the composition and the mean length of norbornene and dodecenamer unit sequences. These characteristics were evaluated by analyzing the NMR spectra of the copolymers and related to the DSC data using the thermal characteristics of polydodecenamer taken from the literature. In that manner, it was possible to establish structure-property relations, for example, between the mean length of the crystallizable trans-dodecenamer unit sequences, the thickness of corresponding lamellae and the temperatures of their melting.
