This report is focused to the magnetic properties of pure and interstitionally hydrogenated R-Fe compounds, as for example R2Fe14B, RFe17,RFe12 or RFe11Ti, investigated by magnetization measurements in pulsed magnetic fields. Especially, the case of antiparallel (i.e. ferrimagnetically) coupled R- and Fe-sublattices, present in the heavy rare-earth compounds, offers a detailed analysis of intrinsic interactions: Breaking the antiparallel configuration by a strong magnetic field in the range of 50-80 T directly points to the coupling strength of both sublattices. The advantage of a lower coupling strength at the insertion of interstitials often allow to realize the (now mostly smeared out or stepwise) transitions completely.
