As a proxy for the OH absorption depth the ratio of the thermally corrected M³ spectral reflectances at 2657 and 2817 nm was used. We found that in the lunar morning the OH absorption is deeper on the flat crater floor than on the warmer southwestern wall. At lunar midday, the OH absorption depth falls well below the average morning level and does not show a topography dependence any more. This variation with daytime suggests a predominant origin of the OH from adsorption of solar wind protons.
