Professional activity of a new type of teacher according to new educational standards in Russia should include all educational resources. The development of modern museums in Russia testifies to the strengthening of their educational activities. The museum, which plays an important role in cultural life, is a unique educational environment that allows you to directly study the original subjects, increasing motivation and cognitive interest of visitors. In our work we explore the pedagogical principles that can be involved in the practice of teachers of geography and ecology. The aim of work is to find out the main principles which are necessary to take into the account for new type of teacher in creating the lessons or researching works of pupils in museum. The results of educational projects in the Museum of Earth Science of the Moscow State University for more than 300 geography and ecology teachers of the Moscow were analyzed.
