A molecular-statistical approach of Maier-Saupe type is derived for the description of Meier spontaneous polarization and induced polarization in the tilted smectic phases. We also report about the long-periodicity ferrielectric smectic phases induced by electric field. In particular, the structure of 12-layer subphase (q_T=2/3) obtained in the framework of statistical approach exactly coincides with the one observed by resonant x-ray scattering, and we acknowledge the existence of 15-layer subphase (q_T=11/15) at larger electric field. At smaller values of the electric field we acknowledge the electric field induced transition from q_T=1/2 (4-layer periodicity subphase) to q_T=3/7 (the subphase representing a mixture of 3-layer structure and synclinic structure with domination of 3-layer domains), and then directly to q_T=2/3 (12-layer subphase, representing the same mixture, but with domination of synclinic domains).
