Call for Papers of the 10th East Lake Forum on Global Governance International Conference on Common Security and Global Governance Guided by the Ministry of Education of China and the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, the East Lake Forum on Global Governance held by Institute of State Governance at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), serves as a platform for annual international academic exchanges. Since 2015, 9 forums have been held consecutively, which has made positive contributions at home and abroad. Previous forums have explored the relationship between global governance and many international hotspot issues including national responsibility, green development, international organizations, the community of a shared future for mankind, the Belt and Road Initiative, Great Power Relations, geopolitics, international justice, and mutual learning among civilizations. Themed by “Common Security and Global Governance”, the 10th East Lake Forum on Global Governance will be held online and offline at Huazhong University of Science and Technology on November 16-17, 2024. Affected by the major change unseen in a century, the COVID pandemic, and the evolving international landscape, the world has entered a period of turbulence and transformation, where uncertainties and instabilities are notably increasing. A series of global issues remain complex and unsettled—regional conflicts, terrorism, climate change, cyber security, biosecurity, sanitation and health. More urgently, the deficit of peace, security, trust, and governance confronting human society continues to rise. Therefore, it is imperative to enhance global security governance. Responding to the question of “what kind of security concept the world needs and how to achieve common security for all countries”, General Secretary Xi Jinping puts forward the Global Security Initiative (GSI). The GSI has offered a feasible Chinese solution to resolving global security challenges and promoting international security cooperation and global security system transformation. It has fully embodied China’s positive and responsible image as a major country in tackling global security affairs and made remarkable contributions to upholding world peace and stability. To fully implement the effort of the CPC’s 20th National Congress, conduct the GSI, disseminate China’s voice, and promote in-depth research on global governance, HUST’s Institute of State Governance has made meticulous preparations for this forum.
