Аннотация:Confirmation and further development of Quirk's proposition which states that as a consequence of gas condensation the large-scale distribution of neutral hydrogen in galactic disks is connected with their rotational characteristics and the presence of density waves. Hydrogen distribution is examined separately in the peripheral region of a galaxy where there is neutral hydrogen but no bright spiral structure and in the inner region containing bright spiral arms. Rough approximations are obtained for hydrogen distribution in the peripheral regions of 19 galaxies on the basis of their dynamic characteristics and in the inner region of NGC 224. The results show that the proposition agrees well with estimates of the masses of hydrogen in galaxies, that late-type galaxies have a large relative mass of neutral hydrogen in peripheral regions and a minimum in central regions, and that irregular galaxies and central regions of spiral galaxies have a deficit of neutral hydrogen.
