An invasive species of the sea anemone Diadumene lineata
(Verrill, 1869) is described from the Ukrainian part of the Black Sea where it may attain density of more than 1000 specimens/m in NW part of the sea in some brackish estuaries. The species is described in details. A previously unrecorded for this species type of nematocysts, p-mastigophores A, is reported from the pharynx for the first time.
Currently D. lineatais a well established and abundant species in the northern part of Black Sea, however its impact on benthic and planktonic biocenoses is still poorly studied.
