Аннотация:Separation of nitrogen isotopes by a low temperature distillation, chemical isotope exchange and gas centrifuge methods has been reviewed from the point of view of economic estimation of using of the above methods for large-scale production of nitrogen-15. Both the volume of capital investment and the overall costs per unit of nitrogen-15 for each separation process have been determined with using an original method of comparison of the reversible and irreversible methods of isotope separation. The obtained results have demonstrated that at the moment the gas centrifuge (subcritical one) cannot compete to reversible methods of separation to enrich the nitrogen-15 from natural abundance. To increase an economic attraction of gas centrifuge technology the separating capacity of a single gas centrifuge should be essentially more or its cost should be decreasing in many times. The reversible methods of isotope separation (Nitrox process, for example) are the best methods for production of highly enriched nitrogen-15 from natural level of its concentration.
