Аннотация:It was found that during contact scanning of a KH2PO4 (KDP) prism face in a moist medium, crystal growth proceeds in the area of scanning. A model explaining the phenomenon is offered. It is shown that in a damp environment it is possible to obtain the image with a nanometer resolution and to investigate the basic features of the crystallization process, particularly, at small supersaturations and small growth rates, which is complicated when using other research methods. Under these conditions it is also possible to create a preliminarily defined surface relief which may be of importance for some practical applications. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
